Yar'Adua and fruitless probes!

In a renewed onslaught against graft, President Umaru Yar’Adua may have approved the investigation of the Minister of State for Power, Mr. Nuhu Somo Wyo, and officials of the Ministry of Power, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), National Universities Com-mission (NUC), and Nati-onal Office of Technology Acquisition (NOTAP) for violation of the Public Procurement Act 2007.
The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Power, Alhaji Abdullahi Aliyu, was arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in connection with the alleged breach of due process. Sources, however, said he has been released and ordered to continue to report to the commission

This sounds familiar. Doesn't it? It has always been from one probe to another since June 2007. How many convictions? The power project has been probed, no indictments yet. Infact the final report ran into some troubled water. Ribadu was probed, Soludo probed, ElRufai probed.

Apart from the present kangaro probe, one thing is common with all those probed. They were all from the past administration. The projects that were probed were also from past administration.
Probably some of those in the present list would have been appointed during OBJ's regime. I guess one thing is for sure, this govt knows it is not performing. At least the past govt is far better than the present. The cabals in Aso Rock know that for sure. In stead of them trying to perform to at least the same standard, they have decided to rubbish the little achievements of the past administration by attacking the focal points of it accomplishments and also destroying the reputations of the shining stars of that regime. How pathetic?

I am even suspecting that the Northern Oligarchy who feels short changed are embarking on this present 30-man probe to sack people and thereby create chances that will be filled up by their cronies.
Do not get me wrong, if there is anybody found guilty of corruption, let him be prosecuted. I am only skeptical because it is only the falsified reports meant to tarnish the images of performers that are made public. A regime that abhors achievers! This probe party has been going on for 2 years with no clear indictments. Do you blame me for being skeptical?
Come to think of it, the fact that the likes of Ibori are still holding reigns in this present government still calls into question the moral behind the so called probes.
Yar'Adua Upgrade!
