Vindictive Politics

Atiku’s security escorts withdrawn
The face-off between ex-vice president Atiku Abubakar and the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has snowballed into the presidency’s withdrawal of security escorts attached to the former number two citizen.

A press statement issued by the Media Assistant to Atiku, Garba Shehu drew a link between the security details’ recall and the former vice president’s recent criticism of government’s handling of the electoral reform and the perceived near absence of governance in the country.

I was thinking that the vindictive politics played by OBJ left Aso rock with him. The present action attributed to Uncle Musa reminded me that the witch hunt politics which ran the likes of Ribadu ragged was not a flash in the pan. I was so wrong to think Uncle Musa is not power hungry. How wrong can we all be to have believed he was reluctant to run as president?
Now I know that it was not only OBJ who is averse to dissenting voices but the whole the PDP Mafia is. These are people who can even kill their mothers to remain in power.
What a shame to Nigeria? I am not sure if it is not legal for a former vice-president to have a security detail. If it is not legal, why did they give him a security cover in the first place? If it is not illegal, why is Uncle rule of law breaking the law he swore to protect?
It is unfair. Atiku may be a criminal but he is innocent until he is convicted. Give him the respect due to him as a former vice president of our great nation. Restore his details!
